The main manufacturers of Chinese rolling stock
2024-04-16 16:32Before the merger of CNR and CSR, the major locomotive and rolling stock manufacturers in China were the manufacturing companies under these two groups. The two major manufacturers of locomotives are CRRC SIFANG and CRRC CHANGCHUN Railway Vehicles Co.,ltd.
In 2004, in the China Harmony technology introduction negotiation, because foreign technology manufacturers could not be bidders, they had to participate in the bidding by joint venture or technology transfer with domestic manufacturers. In this process, Bombardier was the first to set up Qingdao Sifang Bombardier Railway Transportation Equipment Co. After that, Sifang Locomotive and Kawasaki Heavy Industries joined hands to focus on the CRH2 series. Changchun Railway Vehicle, which initially wanted to cooperate with Siemens, turned to Alstom because the negotiations did not go well; Siemens made a compromise in 2005 and joined hands with Tangshan Railway Bus to produce CRH3C.
In 2004 and 2005, China's rolling stock manufacturers formed a four-company pattern through two technology introductions. The former China North Railway Group's CRRC changhun railway and CRRC tangshan and China South Railway Group's Sifang Locomotive and BST. Later, China South Railway and North Railway merged to form the China Railway Group, but these four companies manufacture most of China's rolling stock. In the era of "Fuxing"locomotives, Puzhen vehicles joined the production team again.

Bombardier Sifang Qingdao Transportation Ltd
Bombardier was the first to form a joint venture with Qingdao Sifang, mainly producing CRH1 series, CRH380D, because of Qingdao Sifang, followed by 22 CR400AF orders (fleet numbers 1006~1025, 1039~1040), 18 CR400AF-A orders (fleet numbers 1001~1005, 1026~1038), 14 CR300AF orders (fleet numbers 0003, 1001~1013).

In 2005, Tangshan Locomotive of the former North Locomotive Group cooperated with Siemens. It introduced the production of CRH3C, and all 80 CRH3C trains came from the hands of Tangshan Locomotive. In the era of CRH380, the second generation of high-speed locomotives, Tang Che joined hands with Changchun railway to produce CRH380B and CRH380BL, and joined hands with changchun railway to make CRH3A Golden Eye in 2016, and then joined hands with changchun railway to make Fuxing CR300BF, CR400BF and CR400BF-A, 84 sets of CR400BF-G in the whole road, and Tang Che got nine sets of orders.

This is one of the major manufacturers of Chinese rolling stock, all CRH5 series, CRH380BG, the vast majority of CR400BF-G, the entire road except for 29 CRH2G, 3 CR400AF-G by the CRRC Sifang production, 9 CR400BF-G by the CRRC tangshan production. The Changchun railway produces the rest of the alpine-resistant rolling stock, which shows how strong Changchun railway's alpine-resistant technology reserve is. All the 25 CRH380CL, 17-car extra-long group of the Fuxing CR400BF-B, CR400BF series intelligent locomotives are also all from Changchun railway, while Changchun railway also jointly produces CRH380B series and Fuxing CR300BF "blue warmers" with CRRC tangshan railway.

The CRH380A and CR400AF designed by CRRC Sifang are international award winners but slightly weaker than the CRRC changchun railway regarding alpine-resistant technology reserves.
All CRH2 series, CR400AF series, CR400AF-B with 17 cars, and extra-long group are produced by CRRC Sifang, and most of the CR400AF series and CR300AF are also produced by CRRC Sifang.
